AFRICA, in the eyes of the world.
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I have for sometime now been following news on the international media. Especially on the BBC, Reuters, CNN and co. about the picture they paint to the world on Africa. I cannot dispute the fact that there are no problems on the rich continent but there are many good things also in africa that they can show to the world. The only news from Africa you hear on these media are about wars and violence. They happen on other continents and you do not hear them on these same media. This is one of the major setbacks to the development of the continent because people are afraid to put their investments in Africa. It is about time this negative propaganda from these western media stops. We are seek and tired of this and we believe that they cannot destroy efforts being made by the youth in developing partnership with colleagues outside the continent. I am still waiting for the day an african president will blast one these media. Recently, when the immediate African Union Chairman visited Kenya, the news that came roud was that President Kufour has failed in the mediation talks but it turned out to the contrary. How can a someone settle a problem like the one in kenya just with a day or two. We need them to respect Africa and our leaders. I believe the problem between the western world and president Mugabe in Zimbabwe has always been fueled by negative stories in that coutry. Africa media men stand up for your right and propagate the GOOGD things in Africa.

i agree
you have hit the nail on the head. Media plays an important role in shaping perceptions of people. thats the reason why politicians wants to control this fourth state.i have been living in zimbabwe for most of my life and some of the pictures and strories you hear on these media houses are not even close to realitiy.Mugabe is portrayed as this monster yet he was and still is fighting for the empowerment of his people.on may fora the man has stood up against these media houses but it seems as he is a lone voice in the wilderness
